Optimine Exploration is now scheduled to mobilise its drilling equipment and personnel to the Chalkos Project within the next one to two weeks.
Drilling is then expected to begin after final checks and logistical preparations. This marks Kaoko’s transition from surface exploration and target definition to the first systematic drill testing of high-priority prospects.
The program will cover ~2,000 to 3,000 metres of diamond drilling across the Donkey Hill and Otniel prospects, where copper mineralisation has been identified at surface. The program will test beneath and along strike from outcropping mineralisation, evaluate the depth, orientation, and continuity of mineralised zones, and define structural controls influencing distribution at Chalkos.
“The award of our maiden diamond drilling contract marks the beginning of an exciting new phase for the Company as we transition into active drilling operations in the field,” Kaoko’s managing director,” Gerard O’Donovan, said today.
“Our maiden program [will] comprise… diamond drilling across Donkey Hill and Otniel, where compelling mineralisation has been identified at surface.”
Mr O’Donovan continued: “In addition to testing the mineralisation beneath these outcrops, the program has been designed to improve our understanding of the structural controls that we believe play an integral role in the development and distribution of mineralisation across the Chalkos system.”
KAO up +4%, to sell at 52cps today.
