Cauldron Energy (ASX: CXU) CEO Jonathan Fisher is making the case at RIU’s Uranium Investment Day that Australia’s uranium opportunity extends well beyond the commodity itself.

The Watchlist — short video interviews with ASX leaders. Watch now.

Speaking at RIU Essential Energy day two, Fisher outlined his bullish view on uranium demand, the nuclear renaissance and the opportunity for Australia to play a larger role in the global nuclear fuel cycle.

Cauldron Energy is focused on uranium exploration and development, with its flagship Yanrey Uranium Project in Western Australia. Yanrey encompasses the Bennet Well, Manyingee South and Manyingee North deposits and currently hosts a global JORC uranium resource of 55.6 million pounds of U3O8.

The company has also outlined an exploration target of up to 269 million pounds of additional uranium at Yanrey, giving the project substantial exploration upside beyond its existing resource base.

For Fisher, the investment thesis is closely tied to the structural case for nuclear power. He has argued publicly that growing electricity demand, decarbonisation and the need for reliable baseload generation are strengthening the long-term case for uranium.

That view also feeds into his advocacy around Western Australia’s uranium policy. Cauldron has been campaigning for a change to the state’s longstanding uranium mining restrictions, arguing that WA’s substantial uranium endowment could play a greater role in future energy supply. The company has separately published material examining the state’s uranium policy and Australia’s broader nuclear opportunity.

The interview explores Fisher’s uranium thesis, Yanrey’s exploration upside and why he believes Australia needs to rethink its role in the emerging nuclear energy market.
