Advanced Braking Technology (ABT) has received an order from Samsung Bouygues for its failsafe brakes.
The order achieves a strategic object for ABT to diversify its customer base and the industries it supplies its brakes to.
ABT’s brakes have a single brake rotor and unique groove pads which enhances safety, reduces operating costs and improves brake reliability in many different types of cars.
The brakes sit inside an oil filled and sealed housing. They have minimal wear issues due to the low operating temperatures and because they are fully sealed no foreign, corrosive or abrasive materials can enter.
All of ABT’s brakes have a spring activated hydraulic release failsafe component which is automatically applied when the E-stop button is pressed, the engine is turned off or a door is opened. This results in the vehicle not being able to roll away unexpectedly.
All of this results in more reliable brakes, less vehicle maintenance, improved vehicle availability and an overall safer braking system.
ABT received its initial order for its brakes from the Lendlease Samsung Bouygues Joint Venture and will be installed on the land cruiser fleet required for use within the Link Twin Tunnel motorway project in NSW.
This joint venture is for the designing and constructing of a twin 7.5 kilometre motorway tunnel to link the new M4 at Haberfield with the new M5 at St Peters to allow for a continuous and integrated motorway.
The value for this first order is approximately $160,000 which will be increased by the ongoing supply of spares and consumables. It is believed that the entire fleet of 30 land cruiser vehicles will be fitted with the breaks.
It it hoped that by using ABT’s failsafe brakes then production will be quicker, cheaper and safer.

“It is exciting that our failsafe brakes are now being recognised outside of the mining industry and it is expected that this order is the first from companies involved in civil construction.”
This order comes after recent announcements that ABT is providing its brake design services to both the defence industry and the waste management industry however, it hasn’t been confirmed.
