Advanced Braking Technology has entered a 12-month contract with Thales Australia to provide brake design services for the Hawkei Project. The Hawkei Project, delivers a life-saving capability to the Army, designed and manufactured in Australia.

Thales Australia is part of the Thales Group, a world-leading aerospace company which designs and build electrical systems for relevant markets.

Society of Automotive Engineers award winner, ABT will provide brake related design and prototype development and testing services to Thales, who have been contracted by the Commonwealth of Australia to supply 1,100 Hawkei PMV-L vehicles as part of the Land 121 project.

The contract with Thales is the first of two stages. If the initial design and testing of the prototype to successful, ABT will be eligible to participate in the tender for the production and supply of 1,100 hill-hold brake mechanisms that will be fitted to each vehicle.

“We are very pleased to be working with Thales. ABT will now be able to engage with other international specialised fleet providers with our customised design solutions services, thereby further diversifying both our customer base and the industries in which we provide our innovative braking solutions,” ABT CEO, Mr John Annand said.

“The signing of this contract marks a key inflection point in the Company’s development and future strategy,” he said.
