Aerometrex (AMX) has announced new 3D models and measurement tools for its MetroMap web browser.

MetroMap is Aerometrex’s aerial imagery subscription service and is one of the four business units within the company.

Including the 3D models into the same web browser interface as the 2D aerial photo presentations is a major technological step forward for the company. It says the technology will improve customer experience and increased efficiency.

The enhanced speed improvements in the 3D viewer will enable the 3D data to be refreshed quickly.

A range of measurement tools have been included for 3D modelled data including 3D measurement vector and area management, and coordinate height and slope point measurements.

Managing Director Mark Deuter said MetroMap 3D is a convenient and user-friendly way to consume its 3D datasets.

“The tools even allow users to measure vertical faces of buildings or other 3D features,” Mark said.

“The ability to switch between 2D and 3D in the same web browser window is much better user experience,” he added.

Aerometrex has also announced its MetroCam is now fully operational.

MetroCam is a new aerial camera system designed by Aerometrex’s technical team and built in the U.S.A by a specialist camera manufacture. The company holds provisional patents for the camera system.

“MetroCam enables highly efficient imagery capture from Aerometrex’s existing fleet of aircraft,” the company told the market.

The high-flying cameras can capture high-resolution images from the sky and will not be affected by the traffic on the roads.

“We are delighted with the development timescale of MetroCam. To take a camera system from design to production in less than a year is a testament to our development team,” Mark said.

“MetroCam will empower our MetroMap aerial imagery capture program and will enable us much more control of this cost and development path,” he explained.

There has been positive momentum for the MetroMap subscription fee, as it continues to grow.

Aerometrex is up 1.83 per cent on the ASX and is trading for $1.94 at 2:36 pm AEDT.
