Alcidion Group (ALC) has signed a $9.5 million deal with South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Over a five year period, Alcidion will provide the NHS Trust with its Miya Precision and Better OPENeP solution.

Miya Precision digitises patients records and care processes while OPENeP is an electronic prescribing and medicines administration system.

Alcidion Group Managing Director Kate Quirke said South Tees will be one of the first in the U.K. to use the healthcare technologies.

“It is extremely rewarding to see South Tees enter into this agreement so soon after we formally launched Miya Precision as the first smart clinical asset for the NHS,” she said.

South Tees is the second NHS Trust to secure the solutions from Alcidion in the last year. It is also the largest Miya Precision contract signed to date.

South Tees Chief Clinical Information Officer and Emergency Medicine Consultant Dr Andrew Adair said the technology will deliver considerable efficiency improvements.

“Our agreement with Alcidion will allow us to accelerate our digital maturity and adopt modern technology that will have a very significant positive impact on the daily lives of the people who use it,” Dr Adair stated.

“We have been determined to finalise this agreement at a time of unprecedented pressure in the NHS. The systems we are about to implement will help to lighten the burden faced by clinical staff who are working fantastically hard, by reducing time spent on manual processes and providing some extremely impressive clinical decision support tools,” he said.

Alcidion shares have opened 40 per cent higher, trading for 17.5 cents at 10:25 am AEDT.
