Alligator Energy (AGE) has commenced its first drilling program at the Nabarlek North project in the Northern Territory after being granted an exploration licence.

The project lies in the Alligator Rivers uranium province (ARUP).

The company has taken on a regional auger and rotary airblast (RAB) drilling program in the southern part of the project to enable geochemical sampling.

The program will also help to improve Alligator’s understanding of the underlying geology in the region.

CEO Greg Hall said the drilling would assist the company in identifying geology and, combined with geophysics, would help inform its targeting process for diamond drilling in 2023.

“This region has been shown to host high-grade prospects and projects, and we are pleased to be on the ground and working with the traditional owners in the region,” Mr Hall said.

“The extensive work and engagement undertaken by Alligator in Arnhem Land in previous years have contributed to our successful and important agreement over the Nabarlek North project with the traditional owners.”

Before the commencement of this program, the company had completed an airborne gravity survey at the Falcon Plus region in August, with results currently being analysed.

Together with an IP survey planned, the combination of results from the drill program and gravity survey will inform target identification for diamond drill testing later next year.

Shares in Alligator closed 1.92 per cent lower at 5.1 cents this afternoon.
