Alligator Uranium (AGE) has updated the market on drilling progress made at its Samphire Uranium project based in South Australia.
The Whyalla based project has drilled five of the 14 sonic core holes within the uranium-bearing zones at the Blackbush deposit after rain-related delays kept the work in limbo.
Pre-collar drilling through barren overlying sediments has been drilled to 50 metres followed by sonic coring down to the hole end in the underlying granite to the estimated depth between 85 and 90 metres in total.
Results from the sonic drilling will facilitate the understanding of geological interpretation and hydrogeology.
Following the sonic drilling, up to 40 rotary mud holes will be drilled in early 2022.
Assays of these surveys have been sent to an Adelaide laboratory for testing but are not expected for at least six weeks due to lab workloads.
Multiple composite samples from various holes have been accumulated for the purpose of the completed sample to be sent to the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation in New South Wales for updated uranium leach and IX extraction tests.
The uranium leach and IX tests will feed into the future resource modelling and scoping study to be performed in the first half of next year.
“Our team has worked hard to establish the right core handling, recording and logging techniques and quality control systems to ensure best value data will be obtained from this drilling work,” CEO Greg Hall said.
“This is important for us to be able to tie in the previous historical drilling results into an updated resource estimate next year.
“The drilling and core processing is being undertaken under established radiation safety and environmental management protocols”.
