Alligator Energy (ASX: AGE) is progressing its flagship Samphire Uranium Project in South Australia as it works to transition from explorer to emerging uranium producer.
At RIU Essential Energy’s Uranium Investment Day in Perth, Alligator Energy Managing Director and CEO Dr Andrea Marsland-Smith discussed the company’s progress at Samphire, including its in-situ recovery strategy and the milestones ahead.
Alligator Energy is focused primarily on uranium, with Samphire located near Whyalla in South Australia. The project is being advanced using in-situ recovery, or ISR, a mining method that extracts uranium through wells rather than conventional open-pit or underground mining.
A key recent milestone has been the project’s Field Recovery Trial. Initial results reported in 2026 showed the first well pattern achieving the company’s 70% uranium recovery target, with flow rates and uranium solution grades exceeding assumptions used in the scoping study.
That trial is central to Alligator’s investment thesis: demonstrate that ISR can perform effectively at Samphire and use the results to support the project’s pathway through feasibility, approvals and ultimately development.
Marsland-Smith took over as CEO in July 2025 as Alligator entered what the company described as a transition from explorer towards emerging uranium producer. The company’s stated milestones include advancing Samphire through final feasibility work, mining approvals and development.
