Alta Zinc (AZI) has intersected its highest grade and thickest intercept from the Pian Bracca Zone at the Gorno Zinc Project.

Hole PBD13A intersected 15 metres at 14.1 per cent zinc, 4.2 per cent lead, and 70g/t silver from 65.3 metres.

This result showcases the quality of mineralisation that can be intersected from the Gorno Project.

The holes are also continuing to intersect mineralisation within the ‘Breno’ Lens, which form stacked layers of mineralisation and are able to be reached via existing developments.

“Hole 13A has continued to demonstrate the consistency and high-grade quality of the Pian Bracca Zone,” Managing Director Geraint Harris commented.

“Our team are now analysing the relationships and potential continuity between the mineralisation discovered at Pian Bracca and that previously mined or intersected in the historical drilling over a large exploration area,” Geraint continued.

“This vital analysis will be used to effectively target low-cost future exploration with the intent of continuing to grow a robust mineral resource inventory at Gorno,” he added.

The Gorno Zinc Project is a lead-zinc-silver deposit that is located in Northern Italy and forms part of a series of deposits that occur across the Alps and neighbouring European countries.

Historical production at the mine is six million tonnes at an average grade of 14.5 per cent zinc and lead, and high-quality, 55 to 60 per cent, zinc sulphide concentrates.

Due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, all drilling and physical work at the Gorno Project has been suspended until further notice.

However, the equipment is still on-site and operations will restart once it is safe enough to do so.

In the meantime, Alta Zinc is planning the next phases of drilling with the aim to expand the mineral resource base at Gorno.

Alta Zinc’s share price has spiked 33.3 per cent and shares are trading for 0.4 cents each at 2:25 pm AEDT.
