Altech Chemicals (ATC) has commenced construction of its pilot plant to bring its patented Silumina Anodes technology to the market.

The company said the pilot plant is well underway and progressing to the expected time frame.

The pilot plant will produce 120 kilos a day of the Siluma Anodes product to then be sent to potential end users for testing.

According to Altech, the procurement of pilot plant equipment is well advanced, with all long lead items ordered.

Detailed design work is wrapping up and the Kuttner Engineering team is now focussing on the development of commissioning and operational documentation.

Additionally, the company has commenced a 10,000 tonnes per annum definitive feasibility study, which will run in parallel with the pilot plant construction.

Furthermore, Altech said it briefly introduced the Silumina Anodes project to German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz during his site visit.

ATC is currently working on advancing federal and state grants for the project.

It has been invited to present its technology and the project to the German Federal Government of Germany through its Special Task Force of the Chancellery.

Shares in Altech were up 1.64 per cent to trade at 6.2 cents at 10:38 am AEST.
