American Tungsten & Antimony (ASX:AT4) has lined up key targets for its upcoming 29-hole maiden drilling program at the Tennessee Mountain Tungsten Project in Elko County, defining a broad tungsten anomaly across the project area and confirming surface tungsten mineralisation at the Garnet Mine.

These findings reinforce the company’s geological model, American T&A said today, and “support the interpretation that tungsten mineralisation extends beyond historic workings and remains open along strike and at depth.”

Key assay results from AT4’s chip channel sampling included “Sample 1080548,” which returned 4,713ppm (0.59% WO3) over a one metre interval.

Also notable was that selective rock chip sampling highlighted a peak result of 20,693ppm Mo (2.07%) from “Sample 1939349.” This was recorded alongside three further samples grading between 2,055 and 4,352ppm Mo.

Tungsten and elevated molybdenum together are “consistent with a fertile, intrusion-related tungsten-molybdenum skarn system,” MD Andre Booyzen said today. “The scale and continuity of the soil anomaly, together with the rock chip results, support the view that mineralisation extends beyond the historic workings and remains open at depth and along strike,” he explained to shareholders.

“We look forward to advancing the project through drilling, with the objective of generating data to support the definition of a future JORC-compliant resource.”

This compiled data will now serve the Phase One maiden drilling program, providing vectors and key targets across 29 holes. The program will be staged across ~3,000 metres and aims to generate a modern exploration dataset to support the potential future definition of a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource.

There are a few hurdles American T&A has to clear before it can get started, though, including regulatory clearance. The company is currently preparing a Plan of Operations that it will then submit to the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to authorise future drilling activities on USFS-administered land.

While that’s going through all the necessary channels, the explorer will also be staging a pre-drill field program involving systematic infill soil sampling to refine exploration targets outside the early Phase One footprint.

AT4 will open at 5.6cps today.
