Andromeda Metals (ADN) has tabled an inaugural indicated mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the Tiger kaolin deposit within its Great White project in South Australia of 12.1 million tonnes (Mt) of bright white kaolinised granite.

The company said the resource is predicted to yield about 7.24 Mt of high bright <45-micron-size recovered fraction kaolin product at an ISO brightness R457 cut-off of 75.

The MRE was based on analyses of core samples from drilling undertaken by the company in 2011 comprising 45 aircore holes for an aggregate coverage of 2,132.5 metres.

All holes were drilled vertically to intersect the flat-lying mineralisation at right angles, with most intersecting the upper and lower contacts to the mineralisation.

Andromeda said further drilling was required to expand the resource, which remains open in most directions, obtain diamond core samples for dry bulk density determinations and hydrogeological studies.

Regional elevated levels of cerium in clay-rich intervals were also identified from handheld XRF analyser results indicating the potential presence of ionic-adsorption clay rare earth elements (REEs).

Andromeda said its main focus remains the delivery of the Great White definitive feasibility study and permitting of the mining lease.

ADN shares were steady at 20 cents at 10:42 am AEDT.
