Anson Resources (ASN) has produced its first battery-grade lithium carbonate product using brines from its Paradox lithium project in Utah.

The company announced this achievement as a “key milestone” which will enable it to provide product samples to potential offtake partners, including electric vehicle and lithium-ion battery manufacturers.

The lithium carbonate was produced utilising a flowsheet designed by ASN’s direct lithium extraction (DLE) partner, Sunresin, and the samples were produced at a demonstration plant established at ASN’s Lithium Innovation Centre in Florida.

Now, Anson plans to relocate the demonstration plant to its Paradox project in Utah so it can directly extract brine from its wells. The company aims to ramp up production to meet its anticipated demand from potential offtake partners.

Since the commencement of lithium processing over the past month, Anson has produced 33 gallons of eluate from 99 gallons of raw brine, sourced from the Long Canyon Unit 2 well at Paradox during the company’s 2022 exploration program.

ASN shares were up 3.23 per cent, trading at 16 cents at 10:56 am AEST.
