Ardea Resources (ARL) has begun diamond drilling at the Emu Lake target, which is part of the Kalpini Nickel Project in WA.

The Kalpini Nickel Project covers 240 square kilometres with Emu Lake being the leading nickel sulphide target.

A single, 450-metre drill hole is targeting a strong downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) conductor that lies around 50 metres north of AELD0001, which was drilled in December last year.

Once this hole was drilled, Ardea undertook a DHEM survey which defined the off-hole EM conductor.

The EM target has a high conductance of 8000 siemens and aligns with the sulphide mineralisation in hole AELD0001. This hole returned a stand-out result of 0.65 metres at 2.95 per cent nickel and 0.08 per cent copper from 336.7 metres.

“Results from our first drill hole at Emu Lake provided Ardea with confirmation of nickel sulphide mineralisation and project prospectivity,” Managing Director Andrew Penkethman said.

“Ardea has defined a strong conductor that represents a compelling target that is now being drilled and provides the company with the opportunity to make a significant nickel sulphide discovery to complement our globally significant Kalgoorlie Nickel Project,” he added.

The company expects the drill hole will be completed by mid-April.

In addition to this drill hole, Ardea has recently started moving-loop electromagnetic surveys across the broader project area to target Kambalda-style massive nickel sulphide mineralisation over five targets.

Ardea ended the day in the grey with shares closing at 46 cents.
