Argent Minerals (ARD) has confirmed “extensive” copper mineralisation at the Mt Palgrave prospect within the Copperhead project in WA’s Gascoyne province.

The company completed the first helicopter-borne rock chip reconnaissance survey at Mt Palgrave and surrounding prospect areas late last year.

The maiden program returned high-grade copper assays including 4.14 per cent, 5.92 per cent, 8.8 per cent, 14.96 per cent and 21.1 per cent, with “strongly anomalous” zinc mineralisation up to 0.11 per cent from 12 rock chip samples.

Argent Minerals Managing Director Pedro Kastellorizos said the company is “absolutely delighted” to confirm high-grade copper mineralisation at the Mt Palgrave prospect.

“Field based observation have confirmed of strong copper assay results, as the copper mineralisation is vastly more extensive that previously reported from the exploration work completed from 1966-1967,” Mr Kastellorizos said.

The company believes there’s further outcropping mineralisation extensions on the western, eastern and synclinal hinge zones which vary from 2.5 to 3.3 kilometres and remain untested.

Argent said it plans to proceed with ground-based exploration programs at Copperhead.

Company shares last traded at 1.6 cents at 2:46 pm AEDT.
