Argosy Minerals (AGY) has completed 40 per cent of total construction works at the Rincon Lithium Project in Salta Province, Argentina.

The company is in the midst of developing a 2,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) lithium carbonate production operation.

The operation is made up of three main phases of works: design, construction, and commissioning.

Argosy says the design phase, including engineering layout is effectively completed, sitting at 99 per cent. Construction is still underway, with only 36 per cent finalised, while plant commissioning works, including raw materials acquisition and tender works, are seven per cent finished.

“The company’s Puna operations team continues making significant progress on construction and development works, toward commencing 2,000tpa lithium carbonate production operations at our Rincon Project,” Argosy Managing Director Jerko Zuvela said.

“We look forward to a significant near-term growth phase from the increasing development activity at our Rincon Lithium Project.”

Argosy said the construction phase remained on schedule for completion during April 2022, with plant commissioning works, production test-works and ramp-up set to immediately follow.

Argosy said it was on track to hit its first commercial production of more than 99.5 per cent battery quality lithium carbonate product from mid-2022.

Argosy Minerals was trading 4.88 per cent up at 21.5 cents at 10:32 am AEST.
