- Asian American Medical Group (AJJ) has partnered with London’s King’s College Hospital to set up a liver centre in Hainan, China
- Significantly, this marks the first standalone liver centre in the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone
- The centre offers industry-leading facilities that will support patients in the region suffering from viral infections that lead to liver cirrhosis and cancer
- Additionally, the centre will be directed by company Chairman Dr Tan Kai Chah, who spent the late 80s and early 90s pioneering many liver transplants
- Partnering with the King’s College Hospital will allow the company to provide affordable and quality treatment for local and visiting patients

Asian American Medical Group (AJJ) has partnered with London’s King’s College Hospital to set up a liver centre in Hainan, China.
Significantly, this centre marks the first standalone liver centre in the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone.
The King’s College Hospital Liver Centre will support patients from China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. When combined, these areas have the world’s largest concentration of patients suffering from hepatitis viral infections that lead to liver cirrhosis and cancer.
“Fatty liver disease is a new scourge in this part of the world. This partnership with an eminent and highly respected centre like King’s College Hospital, will position us well to provide affordable and quality treatment for both local and visiting patients,” AAMG Executive Chairman Dr Tan Kai Chah said.
The new liver centre offers industry-leading facilities and a vast range of services. Additionally, the centre is located on a tropical island with resort facilities that attract millions of tourists — making it an inviting place for those who need to rest and recuperate after their medical treatments.
Dr Tan will direct the liver centre as he trained in both paediatric and hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplant surgery at King’s College Hospital between 1986 and 1994.
While at King’s, Dr Tan conducted the first paediatric living donor liver transplant in the U.K. He also led the living donor liver transplantation programs at the National University Hospital in Singapore and the Gleneagles Hospital.
The King’s College Hospital Liver Centre had a soft launch in November last year and is set to benefit from the incentives and tax breaks that apply within the Pilot Zone and Hainan as a free port.
Company shares ended the day trading flat at 5.5 cents.
