Askari Metals (AS2) has extended the Benbur prospect which is part of the Burracoppin gold project in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region.

The company confirmed the extension after receiving a second lot of drill results from its phase three reverse circulation (RC) drilling program which was completed in June.

This program included 40 holes and targeted potential strike extensions at the Burgess Find, Christmas Gift and Benbur, Easter Gift and Lone Tree prospects. Drilling also tested several targets identified through a previous soil geochemical program.

Today’s results come from three holes, two of which were drilled below and along strike to the north of the Benbur prospect and tested the continuation of the mineralisation.

Highlighted results include six metres at 2.37 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 31 metres including one metre at 9.54 g/t gold and two metres at 3.46 g/t gold from 155 metres in ABRC041.

Additional results include one metre at 1.93 g/t gold from 173 metres in ABRC042 and one metre at 1.97 g/t gold from 78 metres in ABRC045.

Vice President for Exploration and Geology Johan Lambrechts said the new results support the first tranche which identified a southward extension of mineralisation from the Christmas Gift prospect.

“Building on the success from the first tranche, the second tranche confirms the extension of mineralisation north and down-dip of Benbur, which further reduces the space between the two prospects, offering significant potential to join these two zones of mineralisation,” Mr Lambrechts said.

“The gold endowment at Burracoppin is shaping up nicely and based on the results received to date from phase one, two and three has the potential to be significant.”

The company expects it will soon receive the final batch of results from phase three drilling.

AS2 shares ended the day 8.11 per cent in the green to close at 40 cents.
