Askari Metals (AS2) has identified new anomalous lithium-bearing pegmatite zones from its phase three rock sampling campaign at its Barrow Creek lithium project in the NT.

The program tested 69 rock samples over a 6.2-kilometre strike length within the South-Eastern area of the project.

The company identified three new targets from the program and will plan follow-up work accordingly.

The results indicated a correlation between lithium and several of its indicator minerals, including tin, tantalum, niobium, silver, molybdenum and antimony.

It has planned reverse circulation (RC) drilling and is considering aircore or rotary airblast drilling to test below shallow cover material.

RC drilling will commence upon the receipt of exploration permits.

Vice President of Exploration and Geology Johan Lambrechts said the results were encouraging.

“The lithium-bearing pegmatites identified in the third phase at the South-Eastern are accentuate this project’s potential, which the company is methodically uncovering,” he said.

“The fact that these results stem from an initial reconnaissance visit and not a detailed mapping and sampling program is considered very positive, and we are excited to revisit the area.”

Shares were trading 8.33 per cent higher at 26 cents each at 1:50 pm AEST.
