Askari Metals (ASX: AS2) is continuing to progress its exploration strategy in Ethiopia, with government engagement and permitting remaining important steps ahead of potential field activity. For investors, the next phase of the company’s Ethiopia strategy is closely tied to the progression of the remaining approvals and Askari’s ability to move from permitting into on ground exploration.

D’Anna said maintaining relationships with government and regulatory authorities has been an important component of advancing the projects, particularly as the company works through the permitting process.

Operating in the country has provided Askari with experience navigating the local exploration and permitting framework, while giving the company a clearer understanding of the process involved in progressing its projects.

Askari has been undertaking operational preparations on the ground, positioning the company to move towards mobilisation once the necessary permits are secured.

Beyond Ethiopia, D’Anna also discussed Askari’s broader approach to portfolio construction. Rather than relying on a single commodity or project, the company is looking to develop a portfolio spanning different commodities, project stages and jurisdictions.

That strategy is intended to provide multiple avenues for potential growth while creating exposure to different exploration and development opportunities.
