Asra Minerals (ASR) has confirmed “significant” heavy rare earth elements (HREE) through recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its Mt Stirling project in WA.

The company said the results from 113 drill holes at the Yttria discovery within Mt Stirling showed major REE occurrences together with critical mineral scandium.

Some of the top results include seven metres at 669 parts per million (ppm) total rare earth plus yttrium oxide (TREYO) and 70 ppm scandium.

Asta Technical Consultant Ken Collerson said these results showed the majority of Yttria assays were similar to other regolith-hosted systems seen throughout the “highly prospective” region.

“What has also emerged from this discovery is the homogenous and large presence of significantly elevated scandium oxide through the entire regolith, with values up to 174 ppm,” Professor Collerson said.

Astra’s drilling so far has only tested 3.5 kilometres of the REE area.

The company is now awaiting assays for a further 160 holes at Yttria, and the company plans to test the strike continuity of REE and scandium across Mt Stirling through near-future drilling.

The company said it would also begin to select drill samples for metallurgical testing.

The project Mt Striling project lies in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.

Shares in Asra Minerals were trading at 1.2 cents at 1:23 pm AEDT.
