Astral Resources (AAR) has discovered a new zone of shear‐hosted gold mineralisation at its Mandilla gold project in Western Australia.

The company recently undertook a reverse circulation drilling program at the newly-identified Hestia prospect with results received for 38 holes.

Drilling was conducted over seven lines totalling 1000 metres with significant gold mineralisation intersected on every line.

Assays from the Hestia prospect include six metres at 7.07 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 107 metres, one metre at 26.15 g/t gold from 13 metres and 12 metres at 1.07 g/t gold from 52 metres.

The company believes the Hestia discovery demonstrates the potential to expand Mandilla’s current mineral resource estimate of 24 million tonnes at one g/t gold for 784,000 ounces.

“These very encouraging assay results provide the opportunity to define additional mineral resources in a completely different geological setting just 500 metres from the cornerstone Theia deposit,” Managing Director Marc Ducler said.

“With an impressive 32 of 38 drill‐holes returning gold mineralisation over 1000 metres of shear zone running sub‐parallel to Theia, Hestia now presents as a priority in‐fill target,” he added.

Astral also completed a further 2873 metres of RC drilling at the Iris and Theia deposits. Assays are pending.

The company has since commenced a 4700 metre diamond drilling program at the project with 493 metres completed so far.

AAR shares were trading steady at 8 cents at 1:17 pm AEST.
