Mineral resource company Astro Resources (ARO) has completed field mapping at its Needles Property in Nevada, U.S.

The mapping is a segment of its exploration program at the project. A U.S. geologist spent ten days in the field locating historic mine and prospecting sites, mapping geological structures, sampling outcrops and locating previous works.

The report on what the geologist found and assays of the surface samples collected will be announced once it becomes available.

However, the U.S. geologist has provided some information on what was found which includes numerous historic prospects and mineralised outcrops being sampled, with a total of 97 samples collected for gold and multi-element assay.

Historic prospects and a shaft were found in the undrilled area to the west of the Arrowhead Mine, which is Astro’s current focus on the exploration program.

“Alteration and weathered sulphide (limonite) has been identified in the numerous geological structures that have been mapped, with structural zones up to 10 metres wide,” the company said.

“Astro is encouraged by the preliminary information from the mapping program,” it added.

On the market today, Astro is down 20 per cent and is trading for 0.8 cents per share at 2:31 pm AEST.
