ASX Market Open: Local bourse to reverse Monday’s gains | 22 Oct 2024

Good morning and a happy Tuesday. The ASX200 is set to decline -0.85% on Tuesday per local futures at around 8.30am Sydney time.

Wall Street eased overnight, leading to a pullback in bullish sentiment for premarket traders down under.

While the NASDAQ ended up +0.27%, the S&P500 and Dow Jones both clocked a close in the red.

Looking at the ASX,

Australian tech giant Wisetech remains the subject of ongoing scrutiny following weeks of reports ultimately alleging the company’s founder has been carrying out sexual misconduct in his personal life. Richard White is also the stock’s largest shareholder, and has been selling shares.

Meanwhile, toll road player Transurban confirmed its FY25 guidance, and, Suncorp has its AGM today.

In forex, the AUD continues to buy 67 US cents.

Turning to commodities which are in USD,

Iron ore remains just above $100/tn in Singapore,

Brent is trading at $73.80 per barrel,

Gold is at $2,719 per ounce, and,

US natgas is fetching $2.35 per gigajoule.
