ASX Market Open: Local bourse to rise as US voting underway | 6 Nov 2024

Greetings and welcome to the midway point of this US election heavy week. You’re listening to HotCopper’s daily Market Open.

Let’s get into it.

Starting at home, the ASX200 is set to rise 0.75% per local futures around 8.30am Sydney time.

These premarket assessments comes as Wall Street ended up overnight; the S&P500 gained 1.2% and the NASDAQ climbed 1.4% while the US election day officially kicked off overnight US time.

It could be a while before we know who will actually win. Also on the global radar this week, China’s National Peoples’ Congress (NPC) remains ongoing.

Meanwhile, in forex, the Aussie is buying 66 US cents.

Looking at commodities, which are in the greenback:

Brent Crude is trading at $75.49/bbl,

Iron Ore futures in Singapore are currently worth $105.95 per tonne,

Gold is fetching $2,743 per ounce, and finally,

US natgas futures are commanding $2.67 per gigajoule. .
