19 October 2023 09:53 (AEDT)

ASX futures were 83 points lower, down 1.18 per cent at 8:30 am AEDT.

The S&P 500 ended down 1.34 per cent; the NASDAQ down 1.62 per cent as tensions in the Middle East flared up again following the contested bombing of a hospital. Who did what is so far unclear.

Today from the ABS Australia gets its labour force data.

Here are stocks catching traders’ attention pre-trade on Thursday:

Patriot Battery Metals (PMT) has announced its discovery of a new high-grade lithium zone at its Canadian acreage.

The company has unveiled high-grade lithium drill intercepts starting at depths under less than 10 metres, indicating surface-level mineralisation.

The closer to the surface you get, the more likely a cheaper open pit mine becomes, as opposed to an underground operation.

Shares last traded at $1.29.

Torque Metals (TOR) has received the first batch of assays showing lithium mineralisation on site.

The lithium discovered in question was confirmed to be spodumene in nature, a highly desired host rock easier to convert to battery-grade lithium feedstock.

The company is yet to test an “extensive area” within its two mining licences for further mineralisation.

Shares last traded at 38 cents.

Meanwhile, Northern Star Resources (NST) has published its September Q3 CY23 report to the market.

The company sold 369,000 ounces of gold across the quarter at an all-in cost of $1,939/oz.

The company maintains its FY24 guidance for 1600-1750 ounces of gold sold across the period.

Shares last traded at $11.48.

Strickland Metals (STK) has identified new gold targets on-site its acreage following exploration drilling.

The company has confirmed gold mineralisation is closely linked to magnetite deposits in a banded formation.

The main target is yet to be drilled on-site as an aircore drill rig could not perforate some material, a reverse circulation rig is on its way to site.

Shares last traded at 8.5 cents.

And, BBX Minerals (BBX) has updated the market on drilling at its Ema project, calling results “positive.”

The company has confirmed REE mineralisation is more voluminous than thought at the company’s Ema project.

Drilling data confirmed REEs present at depths less than ten metres in an auger drill run.

Shares last traded at 2.5 cents.

Finally, Tanzania-based gold explorer OreCorp (ORR) has released its Q3 CY23 report.

OreCorp’s acquisition by Silvercorp Metals continues to roll on; Silvercorp will fund Orecorp $28 million to continue its activities.

Meanwhile, the delivery date for OreCorp’s definitive feasibility study (DFS) has been shortened by 14 weeks.

Shares last traded at 49 cents.
