Aurumin (AUN) has completed the first stage of Auger drilling at its Central Sandstone gold project in Western Australia.

A total of 469 holes were drilled, with the aim to geochemically sample the cover-bedrock interface.

It followed up on five targets, which were identified in last year’s auger work as well as 29 other areas of interest detected by the company’s geologists.

The program was adjusted in response to hard ground and other geological restrictions. It managed to complete sampling at 29 of the initial 36 areas of interest.

For the areas unable to be sampled, AUN is working to determine alternative strategies to ensure it is completed.

The samples have been sent to the laboratory, with results expected in the next three weeks.

Shares were trading 1.27 per cent lower today at 19.5 cents each at 12:21 pm AEST.
