- Shipbuilder Austal (ASB) to build an additional two Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats (ECCPBs) for the Royal Australian Navy for $124 million
- The ECCPB is an evolution of Austal’s Cape-class Patrol Boat which was first developed for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service in 2013
- The vessels have been enhanced to further extend the capability and the fleet with crew increasing by 10 to 32 and the quality-of-life provisions have been enhanced
- The boats will be used for a variety of constabulary and naval missions
- Austal is up 3.03 per cent on the market with shares trading at $2.04
Shipbuilder Austal (ASB) will build an additional two Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats (ECCPBs) for the Royal Australian Navy for $124 million.
These two new vessels are in addition to the six that are currently being delivered.
The Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boat is an evolution of Austal’s Cape-class Patrol Boat which was first developed for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service in 2013.
There are currently 10 Cape-class Patrol Boats operating around Australia and two in Trinidad and Tobago.
The ECCPBs have been enhanced to further extend the capability of the vessel and the fleet with crew increasing by 10 to 32 and the quality-of-life provisions have been enhanced.
The vessels will be used for a variety of constabulary and naval missions, and will play an important role in Australia’s national security.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison welcomed the announcement today in Perth and was joined by the Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price.
Austal was up 3.03 per cent on the market with shares trading at $2.04 at 3:53 pm AEST.
