Australasian Metals (A8G) kicks off 2022 exploration programs at its Mt Peake and Barrow Creek lithium projects in the Northern Territory.

The company says it is focusing on high-grade lithium mineralisation within outcropping pegmatites in the prospective Northern Arunta pegmatite province.

An initial field mapping and sampling program, in Q4 2021, returned grades of up to 1.61 per cent lithium oxide and 223 ppm tantalum.

The company has since identified the northwest corner of Mt Peake as a key area requiring follow-up work, including more detailed mapping and rock chip sampling.

A crew has arrived on-site to commence a deep ground penetrating radar (DGPR) survey on a priority target within the Mt Peake project.

The company believes the DGPR survey will provide important information to constrain the geometry of mineralised pegmatites.

The program is expected to be completed within two weeks, with the interpretation to be completed by the end of February.

Australasian will also conduct a mapping and rock chip sampling program at the newly acquired tenement package in the Barrow Creek area.

Shares were down 4.48 per cent, trading at 64 cents at 1.48 pm AEDT.
