Australia Post has appointed Woolworths (WOW) supply chain boss Paul Graham as the new CEO and Managing Director.

He will be replacing Christine Holgate who was ordered to step aside after a Senate hearing revealed almost $20,000 had been spent on luxury watches.

Furthermore, the hearing also revealed over $840,000 had been spent on indoor plants between 2018 and 2020.

Paul has more than 40 years’ logistics experience, recently having a stint at parcel transport giant DHL.

This appointment comes after a comprehensive search was undertaken for the right candidate.

“I feel fortunate to be joining at a time when we can truly capitalise on the extraordinary growth in eCommerce experienced in the past year and continue developing our retail and digital offerings while keeping letter deliveries strong,” Paul commented.

“On behalf of the board I am so pleased to announce Paul as the next CEO of Australia Post — an outstanding candidate with strong logistics, digital and retail experience both here and overseas, including as a senior executive at Deutsche Post DHL,” Aus Post Chairman Lucio Di Bartolomeo said.

This appointment coincides as Christine prepares to speak at a Senate inquiry regarding her departure from the company.

Lucio Di Bartolomeo will also speak at the Senate inquiry, which is scheduled for tomorrow.

Christine has previously stated that Lucio has bullied her and did not offer his support when the news about the watches became public.

Paul will begin at Aus Post in September with acting CEO Rodney Boys to remain in the position until then.

He is expected to receive a salary of nearly $1.45 million and bonuses of the same amount.
