Balkan Mining and Minerals (BMM) has received the results of its recently completed gravity survey over the Dobrinja Project.

The Dobrinja Project lies in Western Serbia, along trend from where lithium-borate mineral resources and ore reserves have been defined.

Interpretation of the gravity data indicates Dobrinja has an elongated shape with a distinct north-northwest trend.

Geophysics indicated that the most prospective area for future testing includes the Miocene sedimentary section.

Balkan has also received assay results from its surface sampling program that was undertaken to determine the sedimentary formations with an aim to locate outcropping fine pelitic strata which are known to be favourable hosts for lithium-boron mineralisation.

All up, 97 outcrops were observed and 61 samples were taken for geochemical analysis.

Field observations identified the presence of evaporative mineralisation in the form of analcime which is considered an indicator of a saline-alkaline environment.

Balkan considers these results to be preliminary in nature and will update the market once all assays have been received.

Shares in Balkan were down 4.88 per cent on the market and were trading at 39 cents at 2:07 pm AEDT.
