Bastion Minerals (BMO) has received assay results from the second rock-chip sampling program at its Cometa Copper-G0ld Project in Chile.

The rock-chip sampling program was designed to test previously unsampled areas identified from alteration mapping and airborne magnetics.

These areas are characterised by strong alteration and surface copper oxide mineralisation.

Historical rock-chip sampling suggests there is a strong potential for high-grade iron-oxide copper-gold (IOCG) deposits.

Bastion collected 86 samples from two areas with an average copper grade of 0.34 per cent and a maximum result of 3.08 per cent.

Silver grades averaged 0.97g/t and peaked at 16.6g/t. Gold grades were generally low with a maximum of 0.75g/t.

Pleasingly, these results have identified multiple zones of high-grade copper IOCG mineralisation and Bastion is now undertaking detailed mapping for upcoming trenching and drilling programs.

“The second rock chip sampling program has produced additional high-grade results on the southwestern boundary of the project area at Cometa where satellite alteration mapping and airborne magnetics had identified areas requiring exploration,” Executive Director Ross Landles said.

“The combination of historic sampling and our recently completed sampling campaigns have identified four discrete areas of high-grade copper mineralisation.

“Field teams are following this work up with detailed geological mapping in preparation for trenching and drill targeting.”

Bastion ended the day 8.11 per cent in the green with shares trading at 20 cents in a $13.66 million market cap.
