Battery Minerals (BAT) has begun aircore drilling at the Nine Mile Prospect within its Stavely-Stawell Project in Victoria.

The 721-square-kilometre Stavely-Stawell Project hosts the historical Moyston gold mine which produced around 75,000 ounces at 22 grams of gold per tonne (g/t).

The aircore drilling will be undertaken by Wallis Drilling who began work on September 18.

A total of 81 holes, for 3240 metres, have been planned to test the 1.3-kilometre strike of the highly prospective Moyston Fault.

The Nine Mile Prospect is the first of five targets to be tested under the 15,000-metre aircore drilling program.

Nine Mile was subject to limited drilling in the 1990s with previous aircore drilling returning a result of two metres at 1.7g/t gold which has not been followed up.

Executive Chairman David Flanagan is excited drilling is underway.

“It’s terrific to get back in there drilling. In addition to Nine Mile, we have some great targets and we look forward to exploring the entire tenement and delivering some outstanding results,” Mr Flanagan said.

Shares in Battery Minerals were up 3.45 per cent on the market and were trading at 1.5 cents at 12:43 pm AEST.
