Beam Communications (BCC) has received its ninth and largest order for Iridium GO! on behalf of satellite services company, Iridium Communications.

The latest order is for 7500 units of Iridium GO! which is a compact and portable device that supports global calling, SMS, email, social networking, SOS alerts, and tracking capabilities.

Importantly, the device doesn’t require ground infrastructure which means it isn’t affected by disruptive weather conditions and can work wherever the user is — whether that’s on land or sea, or on or off the grid.

Company CEO, Michael Capocchi, was pleased to have achieved a record order and expects the demand for a product like this would continue.

“The troubling and growing frequency of so-called ‘one-in-100-year disasters’, such as recent weather events in Australia and the US, also serve to illustrate why demand for our dependable and portable satellite communications equipment will remain relevant to the marketplace for a long time to come.”

The last order for Iridium GO! was in September last year and was for 5000 units. This took the total number of units ordered to 50,000 since Iridium GO! launched in 2014.

The first 5000 units of this order are expected to be delivered in the 2022 financial year and the remaining 2500 in the first quarter of FY23. At that point, Beam would have manufactured 57,500 Iridium GO! units since the device launched.

Company shares were up 3.92 per cent and were trading at 26.5 cents at 11:44 am AEST.
