Bowen Coking Coal (BCB) has made its first shipment from its Bluff open-cut PCI mine, with two train deliveries sent to the RG Tanna Coal Terminal in Callemondah, QLD.

The shipment comes as part of the company’s sales contract with Taiwan-based business Formosa Plastics Group.

Further deliveries are scheduled to be made to the port, with about 38,000 tonnes of coal booked for shipment before the end of June.

Managing Director and CEO Gerhard Redelinghuys said this is a milestone achievement for the company.

“Our first shipment from Bluff is just the start of our production ramp up,” he said.

“We have a portfolio of quality metallurgical coal developments coming on line this year at Broadmeadow East, Burton followed by Isaac River as we work towards our production target of mining 5 million tonnes per annum run-of-mine by 2024.”

The company expects demand for its coal to remain high amid the ongoing supply disruptions triggered from Russian sanctions.

Shares were trading 8.57 per cent lower today at 33 cents each at 12:18 pm AEST.
