BPM Minerals (BPM) has commenced drilling at its Santy gold project in Western Australia.

The company will complete a 100-hole reverse circulation (RC) and aircore program for 3500 metres to test priority gold and base metal targets.

This includes RC drilling a 2.2-kilometre structural target at the Santy prospect, which will follow up on previous rock chips and where mineralisation remains open in all directions.

BPM said it believed there was the potential for Julimar-style ultramafic intrusive mineralisation in the area after previous aircore drilling across base-metal targets hit anomalous nickel, cobalt and platinum group elements (PGEs).

The drilling program is expected to take three weeks.

The company also noted assays were still pending from exploration work completed at its Hawkins lead-zinc project.

Shares in BPM Minerals last traded at 13 cents on September 16.
