- The company’s patent portfolio now comprises eight US and one Chinese granted patent with 21 applications pending in several other countries, including Australia
- Company founder Peter van der Made says being granted another patent signifies BRN is at the forefront of revolutionising AI in ways previous attempts have not achieved

BrainChip (BRN) has been awarded an additional US patent, marking its ninth foundational patent.
The US Patents and Trademarks Office has issued the patent for “Method and a System for Creating Dynamic Neural Function Libraries”.
It is a continuation of two previous US patents, US 8,250,011 and US 10,410,117.
While the title has been inherited from US 10,410,117, BRN said it would be better represented by the title of US 8,250,011 “Autonomous Learning Dynamic Artificial Neural Computing Device and Brain Inspired System.”
According to BrainChip, this patent protects the basic structure and function of a digital neuron, consisting of multiple synapse circuits connected to a soma circuit in analogy to a biological neuron, where a soma cell receives its inputs via multiple synapses.
In being granted another US patent, company founder Peter van der Made said BrainChip is able to signify to its customers and partners that its technology is at the “forefront of revolutionising AI” in ways that previous attempts have not been able to achieve.
“This recognition further protects us from others developing similar offerings that would otherwise infringe on our work,” he said.
“We will continue to work towards increasing our patent awards globally as we continue to advance the field of neuromorphic artificial intelligence.”

At market open, shares were trading 6.55 per cent higher at $1.77.
