Brookside Energy (BRK) has spudded its Rangers Well, the second well to be tested in the SWISH area of interest in Oklahoma.

Rangers Well lies within the Anadarko Basin, in the western part of the US State, where BRK owns a number of development units or working interests.

The well was officially spudded on December 11, after the drill rig was successfully set up and all of the equipment tested.

Among the work carried out was laying out the drill-string, making up the bottom hole assembly, installing the measurement while drilling tool and making up the drill bit.

Following drilling beginning two days ago, Rangers Well is now being drilled vertically.

Brookside plans to drill a total measured depth of 17,750 feet and an average true vertical depth of 9300 feet at the well.

Black Mesa, a subsidiary of BRK, was named the operator for the well after the local authority gave permission for drilling to begin late last month.

Company shares have jumped 5.56 per cent to trade at 1.9 cents each at 1:24 pm AEDT.
