Buxton Resources (BUX) has announced its joint venture (JV) partner IGO (IGO) has begun on-ground activities for the West Kimberly JV 2020 season.

Diamond drilling has begun at the Merlin Project and ground electromagnetic (EM) surveys will begin at the Quick Shears Project this week.

Merlin Project

The Merlin Project lies 100 kilometres east of Derby in Western Australia and covers an area of 28 square kilometres.

Significant nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation was identified in 2015 and up to 8.14 per cent nickel, 5.26 per cent copper, and 0.69 per cent cobalt has been returned.

This recently started drilling program will be completed over a new EM plate that was identified in 2019 via a low temperature SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) survey.

This plate lies directly down plunge from a high tenor magmatic sulphide intersection that was identified in April 2019.

Modelling of the plate has returned two targets and a 500 metre diamond drilling program is currently underway to test it.

Quick Shears

The Quick Shears Project neighbours Merlin and is considered highly prospective for nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation.

A total of 642 moving loop and fixed loop EM stations have been planned at Quick Shears and Fireant.

All work will be 100 per cent funded by IGO and more information and results will be announced in due course.

Buxton’s share price is in the grey and shares are trading for 7.8 cents each at 3:31 pm AEST.
