In this episode of Talk Ya Book, founder and portfolio manager of Cerutty Macro Fund, Chris Judd, talks with Emanuel Datt of Datt Capital about Yancoal Australia (ASX:YAL)

Yancoal has coal mines and operations in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia. Yancoal has a market cap of about $7.6 billion and closed at $5.81 yesterday (February 20).

Chris Judd said there was a record demand for coal worldwide in 2023, up 1.4 per cent, with India’s market up 8 per cent and China’s by 5 per cent.

“There feels like there’s a bit of a mismatch in the speed of the energy transition around perhaps how quickly politicians and people would like it to happen, and how quickly it actually is happening,” he said.

Emanuel Datt said he saw coal being around for a lot longer than Government indications.
