Coronado Global Resources (CRN) has resumed operations at its Curragh Mine Complex in Queensland following a worker fatality on November 21.

All dragline operations have been suspended at Curragh for the past three weeks, after CRN employee, Mr Clark Peadon was fatally injured.

Mr Peadon’s death is the second at the coal mine in less than two years, Mr Donald Rabbitt was killed in an incident in January 2020.

Resources Safety & Health Queensland Inspectors have reportedly lifted the directive to suspend all dragline operations, subject to compliance with a staged return to work plan and schedule for dragline operations.

While all operations were initially halted, prior to the lifting of the directive, the company resumed all non-dragline operations in a gradual and phased approach from November 24.

Coronado said return to work safety and training sessions will take place prior to all dragline shifts recommencing.

Once these operations do re-start, CRN said there are no ongoing directives or restrictions on the mine.

The investigation into the incident is continuing and the company said it continues to provide counselling and support to all employees, contractors and their families following the tragic event.

Shares were trading 2.9 per cent lower at $1.17 at 2:46 pm AEDT.
