- CPB will construct an additional taxiway, extension of an existing taxiway, and six remote stands with in-ground jet fuel reticulation
- The company was recently awarded a separate $NZ221 million contract to deliver the Christchurch Metro Sports Facility
CIMIC Group subsidiary CPB Contractors has been awarded a NZ$221 million contract to deliver Auckland Airport’s Taxiway Mike and Remote Stands Stage 2 project.
“CPB Contractors has a strong and experienced team in New Zealand and we’re proud to include Auckland Airport as a new client,” Managing Director Juan Santamaria said
CPB will be responsible for construction of an additional taxiway, extension of an existing taxiway, and six remote stands with in-ground jet fuel reticulation. These works are a critical component of New Zealand’s major expansion plan for the Auckland International Airport.
“We look forward to building a close ongoing relationship with Auckland Airport and to delivering this important infrastructure project efficiently and to the highest safety standards,” Juan said.
Works include 900,000 cubic metres of earthworks, laying 130,000 cubic metres of aggregate base course and 168,000 square metres of concrete pavement. CPB will also construct a 3200-metre stormwater drainage system, runoff and treatment lagoon, and a 2200-metre in-ground jet fuel network.

Winning this multi-million dollar New Zealand contract further cements CIMIC’s and CPB’s relationship with the nation. In April 2019, CPB was awarded a $221 million contract to deliver the Christchurch Metro Sports Facility — the largest aquatic and indoor recreation venue in New Zealand.
Construction for the Metro Sports Facility commenced in May and, like the Auckland Airport works, is expected to be completed in late 2021.
