- Remedial cementing activities successfully re-establishes gas flow
- Gas sample confirms world class helium compositions
- Further remedial work planned ahead of production testing
- Remedial works will resume shortly following a period of stabilisation
D3 Energy (ASX: D3E) has obtained world-class samples after overcoming a flow problem at NGT245 E well within the ER315 permit in South Africa.
Remedial activities have re-established gas flow at NGT245 E and confirmed high helium concentration in gas samples from the well.
In early September 2026 D3 reported deeper water zones were inhibiting gas flow with remedial cementing activities established to isolated the deeper water zones from the gas producing zones and successfully re-established gas flow.
Gas flow enabled a gas sample to be collected from NGT245 E and submitted for compositional analysis. The results confirmed a helium concentration of 5.2% and methane of 49.7%.
MD and CEO, David Casey, said the anomalously low methane here is being retested, but these results nonetheless further demonstrate the scale of the helium system that exists across D3 Energy’s substantial Free State acreage position.
“We are delighted to confirm excellent helium concentrations in gas samples retrieved from NGT245 E. The remedial work has re-established gas flow to enable us to collect and analyse gas samples, and the results speak for themselves,” Mr Casey said.
“Another world class helium concentration of 5.2% in what is our first drilling operation at Nooitgedacht, some 40km from our Production Right application area, is a great result and further demonstrates the true scale of the helium system we have across our portfolio in South Africa.
“This and other data from the drilling programme, together with the high-resolution seismic data just acquired at Nooitgedacht, will enable us to refine our structural interpretation of the project area and enable us to convert what is already one of the largest pure play contingent helium resources anywhere, to reserves.”
Following confirmation of helium concentrations, further analysis of camera and log data will be undertaken with additional, and more tailored remedial work expected ahead of production testing.
Remediation work will resume at NGT245 D shortly after a period of stabilisation following initial cementing operations.
D3 Energy holds an approximately 469,847 acre land position across the Free State Province of South Africa, comprising ER315, PR016, Exploration Right Applications ER386, ER391, ER392 and ER393 and Technical Cooperation Permits TCP273, TCP280, TCP281, TCP282, TCP283 and TCP284.
The company’s flagship ER315 permit has delivered independently verified helium concentrations of up to 8% and is the subject of a Production Right Application (PR016) currently under assessment by South Africa’s Petroleum Agency SA (PASA).
The initial Production Right Application area covers approximately 7.5% of D3’s total exploration right acreage, with the balance of the land position, including ER386, representing the company’s broader appraisal and development pipeline. ER386 is contiguous with ER315 and is located within the same Virginia Fault structural corridor that hosts D3’s certified reserves and contingent resources at ER315 and PR016.
The company has also opened up helium exploration in Australia.
D3E jumped 14.3% to 28.0¢. Mkt cap $37.20M.
