Australian junior D3 Energy (ASX: D3E) has achieved an important milestone for the company and its South African operations with the granting of Strategic Integrated Project (SIP) status for its gas project developments.

The SIP designation will see D3 Energy included in South Africa’s national infrastructure program with enhanced government coordination supporting exploration and commercialisation plans for its significant helium discoveries.

MD and CEO, David Casey, said the SIP status is particularly important given South Africa’s significant and growing natural gas supply deficit and the project’s potential to contribute to domestic energy generation and security.

“The granting of SIP status is a significant milestone for D3 and a formal recognition of the strategic role our project can play in securing South Africa’s energy future and in positioning the country as a key supplier of helium into the global market at a time when supply is under significant structural pressure and sources outside the Middle East are becoming more and more important,” he said.

“We look forward to continuing engagement with Government and stakeholders as we progress the project toward commercial development.”

Mr Casey said the SIP breakthrough will also provide increased visibility with investors, lenders and strategic partners and provide strengthened positioning for future commercialisation opportunities,

SIP status is a designation intended to support projects of strategic importance to South Africa’s economic development, energy security and infrastructure objectives. Projects granted SIP status are incorporated into South Africa’s national infrastructure program, providing a formal framework for Government coordination and stakeholder engagement.

Benefits of SIP status may also include support for infrastructure planning and development initiatives.

D3 Energy’s primary focus is the development of its flagship asset, ER315, located in South Africa’s Free State Province.

ER315 contains certified reserves and significant contingent and prospective resources and continues to deliver strong technical results, positioning D3 Energy as a key player in the global energy transition.

In addition to its South African operations, D3 Energy recently expanded into Australia through the strategic acquisition of highly prospective helium and hydrogen permits in the Arckaringa Basin, further broadening its international footprint in critical gases while maintaining a clear focus on advancing ER315 toward development.

D3E was steady at 27.5¢ with a Mkt cap of $41.76M.
