Discovery Alaska’s (DAF) recent evaluation works have firmed up the lithium potential of its Coal Creek prospect in Alaska.

An evaluation work program confirmed the finding of lithium minerals from historical drill core at the prospect, which is part of the company’s wholly owned Chulitna project.

The detailed prelimary program was conducted via scanning works on twelve initial priority drill holes, during which a handheld analyser detected the presence of lithium across broad zones in each hole.

The company reported the preliminary scans indicated the lithium is disseminated throughout the holes. This was said to come with selective concentrations within stockworked, mineralised greisen zones within the upper coarse-grained granite, and highly disseminated within the finer-grained granite.

“The company is excited to progress lithium exploration works at our Coal Creek prospect with positive scanning results indicating broad zones of lithium in all drill holes tested thus far,” Director Jerko Zuvela said.

“Next stage works include laboratory analysis testing of the prospective core identified from the scanned priority drill holes.”

Re-analysis work of the historical drill core has been progressing, with core logging, sampling and laboratory analysis works.

The company said it looks forward to realising the lithium potential at the Coal Creek prospect and advancing works toward delineating a maiden JORC resource.

Discovery Alaska shares soared on the back of the update, up 29.2 per cent to trade at 8.4 cents at 2:50 pm AEST.
