Doctor Care Anywhere Group (DOC) has expanded its digital healthcare service to patients in the Republic of Ireland.

The self-pay service is now available to patients via Boots Ireland, part of Walgreens Boots Alliance, a global pharmacy group, which has 89 stores across the country.

The company said the new service would build on its current activities in the Irish market and help transform the health journeys of patients, providing telephone and video consultations led by Doctor Care Anywhere’s Irish Medical Council registered GPs.

DOC says Ireland is an important strategic market for the company, with a population of 4.9 million and a healthcare market predominately funded through private medical insurance and self-pay services for both primary and secondary care.

CEO of Doctor Care Anywhere Bayju Thakar said he was proud to be collaborating with a business with the global reach, reputation, and heritage of Boots.

“Following our recent entry into the Australian market, through the acquisition of GP2U Telehealth, this is another significant step for our international expansion and growth story and demonstrates the scalability and flexibility of our platform and business model,” Dr Thakar said.

“We look forward to using Doctor Care Anywhere’s unique experience to help transform healthcare journeys and enhance patient choice across the Republic of Ireland.”

Doctor Care Anywhere was up 0.64 per cent, trading at 79 cents at 2:03 pm AEST.
