U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife Melania have tested positive for COVID-19.

The world leader took to Twitter to confirm the news and announce the duo were entering quarantine.

The announcement by the President comes after one of his top aides, Hope Hicks, contracted the potentially deadly disease.

Hicks is in regular close contact with Trump and recently travelled with him to Tuesday’s Presidential debate in Ohio.

At 74 years old, Trump has a high risk of being affected by complications associated with the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the U.S. is widely regarded as one of the worst nations affected by COVID-19, as it has the largest number of infections worldwide.

In total, over 7.2 million people in the U.S. have contracted COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

All together, over 200,000 people have died after contracting the novel virus.
