Eastern Metals (EMS) has begun a lithium exploration program at the Barrow Creek region within its Arunta project in the Northern Territory.

Initially, the program will map outcropping granites that may contain pegmatites and identify where they are located under transported cover.

EMS said sampling of historical workings by the Northern Territory Geological Survey had identified highly anomalous lithium values directly west of Barrow Creek.

Additionally, the company’s exploration work will be undertaken on and around the Home of Bullion mine, where pegmatite float specimens were identified around previous workings.

“This program is the first step in the prioritising of the lithium pegmatite exploration potential of our tenements in the Northern Territory, all of which lie within the Arunta pegmatite province,” Eastern Metals CEO and Managing Director Wayne Rossiter said.

“Mapping of granites and identification of pegmatites will be the first step of this systematic program commencing at our Barrow Creek area and later at our Adnera area, which lies along-trend from the Alcoota pegmatite district.”

Eastern Metals was up 6.9 per cent with shares trading at 15.5 cents at 11:00 am AEST.
