Eclipse Metals (EPM) has confirmed high-grade historical results from the Ivittuut Project in southwestern Greenland.

The company recently collected samples from historic drill cores to test for multi-commodity mineralisation within the project area.

Analysis of the samples has returned what the company said are significant values for a range of heavy and light rare earth elements in both the Ivittuut mine precinct and the nearby Groneddal-Ika carbonatite area.

In particular, EPM noted rare earth element mineralisation for the first time within the Ivittuut mine sequence, with core containing fluorite which yielded a total rare earth oxide (REO) value of 536.6 parts per million (ppm).

At Gronnedal-Ika, samples returned values up to 22,695 ppm total REO with significant europium values.

Moreover, very low uranium values were noted, ranging from 0.7 to 24.3 ppm, which fall partly below the Greenland Government’s recently legislated maximum of 100 ppm

All up, EPM said the results have confirmed the project’s potential to contain deposits of high-grade quartz, cryolite, siderite, sphalerite and carbonate material.

Further surface samples from both areas are being dispatched to the lab for analysis and the company expects to announce the results in due course.

Petrological and mineralogical determinations are said to be progressing which Eclipse will use as a guide for future exploration.

Shares in Eclipse Metals are up 8.77 per cent to 6.2 cents at 3:24 pm AEDT.
